Women
Writers of Haitian Descent, Inc. invites submissions
for the 2007 Butterfly Poetry Contest for New
Haitian Women Writers.
This contest seeks to encourage the creative efforts
of Haitian women and recognize the importance
of their contribution to literary activity.
CONTEST
GUIDELINES
• Eligibility: Entrants must be an unpublished
woman writer of Haitian Descent, 18 years of age
or older. Entrants may reside in any country on
the globe.
• Entries must be author’s own work.
Only previously unpublished works may be entered.
Reprints are not permitted.
• Deadline: All entries must be postmarked
or received by July 30, 2006.
• Winners will be notified by January 1,
2008.
• Language: Contest entries will be accepted
in English, French, or Creole.
• Format: all entries must be typewritten
in 12 point font, double-spaced, single-sided,
with 1 inch margins all around. Please number
pages. All entries must include a cover sheet
with author’s name, address, phone number,
email address, and titles of all poems submitted.
Please include this information only on the cover
page. For judging purposes the author's name must
not appear anywhere else on the manuscript.
• Submit up to 5 poems on any subject matter.
Please put title and page number on each page,
and staple all poems together.
• No more than 1 entry of up to 5 poems
per participant.
• Contest entries will be accepted by mail
or electronic submission to info@wwohd.org.

General
Rules: Winning authors retain reprint rights to
their work. By entering the contest, you certify
that you have read these guidelines in their entirety
and that you agree, on winning the contest, to
allow WWOHD to publish your winning entry on their
website for an unlimited period of time. All other
authors retain all rights to their work. Decisions
of the judges are final. Directors, staff, and
employees of WWOHD are prohibited from entering.
